The G40 is a collaboration between Gunpla and industrial designer Ken Okayama, in celebration of Gunpla’s 40th anniversary. It’s based on the original RX-78-2, and treads the line between a faithful reproduction and modern re-imagining.
This model is designed to replicate the human-like movement seen in the original anime - adding a “twist” motion to the arms and neck, and offering an unbroken curved leg shape even when running or kneeling - while retaining the fixed waist unit seen on the anime RX-78-2.
The suit’s exterior was designed as a “real” product - alterations were made to the shape of the core block for ease of transformation and access, and bumpers were added on the backpack to absorb impact during battle.
Inspirations for the G40’s visual design were also taken from real-world automotive design, for example the Ferrari cars previously designed by Ken Okayama.
The build is unlike any other High Grade, with entirely unique attachment and articulation. It’s not quite Master Grade levels of intricate, but it certainly requires thought and close attention.
Plastic model kit. Glue, paint and finishing supplies not included.
We are not responsible for any taxes, duty, VAT, customs or other fees on the receiver’s end.
