Gecko Models 1/16 US M24 Light Tank "Chaffee" (WWII Version) 16GM0038

Plastic model kit, assembly required. Glue, paint and finishing supplies not included.

The M24 Chaffee light tank was a light tank used by the United States during World War II, and its nickname, "Chaffee," is derived from General Adona R. Chaffee Jr.
In 1941, a prototype of the T7 light tank was developed with the aim of succeeding the M3/M5 light tanks by equipping it with a 75mm tank gun and heavy armor. However, its combat weight reached 25 tons, leading to the decision to develop the T24, which used the M7's hull layout with the steering system and engine of the M5 light tank.
The T24 prototype was completed in 1943, and after operational testing, production began the following year, 1944. It was officially adopted as the M24 light tank in June of the same year, and by August 1945, 4,731 units had been produced.
This tank made its debut in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944, where it destroyed a German Panzer IV.
The U.S. Army continued to use the M24 after World War II, but once the M41 light tank was deployed, it was retired from frontline service and supplied to Western countries, including Japan, where it remained in use from the 1970s to the 1980s.
