The BNR32 GT-R was introduced in August 1989, at the height of Japan’s bubble economy, as an additional model to the R32 Skyline that had already debuted under the catchphrase “Super-Sensory Skyline.” After a 16-year absence since the Kenmeri GT-R, the Skyline GT-R lineage had finally returned. The BNR32 was born to dominate Group A racing—the pinnacle of domestic touring car competition at the time, known as the JTC All Japan Touring Car Championship. Its specially designed powerhouse, the RB26DETT engine, was developed with displacement determined in accordance with Group A regulations. In the JTC Championship, the BNR32 Skyline GT-R achieved complete victory in every race, accomplishing a legendary streak of 29 consecutive wins.
