The Supermarine Spitfire is considered by many to be the most beautiful single-seat fighter of World War II. The Spitfire underwent many major modifications and minor changes during its manufacture. The early Spitfire MK.V series was the most produced model in the "Spitfire" family. The main improvement of the "Spitfire" MK.V is the installation of three weapons on each side wing , and the installation of a more powerful "Merlin" 45 engine. The "Spitfire" MK.VB with the largest output is equipped with 2 wings on each side7.7mm machine gun and 1 door20mmcannon.
The "Spitfire" MK.V performed well in the UK , so the British troops stationed overseas are also in urgent need of it. The more famous model is the "TROP" type "Spitfire" developed for the North African battlefield . The biggest problem when using it in tropical deserts is that sand inhaled into the engine cylinder will cause serious wear and tear. The way to overcome this is to install an air filter above the carburetor intake.
Although the filter was successful in overcoming the dust, it slowed down the aircraft considerably. However, the problem was solved by the local maintenance unit in Aboukir , who developed a smaller but functional air filter, this model "Spitfire" MK.V/TROP shortened the wingspan to obtain a better Its low-altitude maneuverability often appears in the North African battlefield.
