Mitsubishi, Mid-Term Model

The 'Zero Fighter,' which is the most produced aircraft in Japanese aviation history and has become synonymous with World War II aircraft, is now being introduced as a completely new mold kit from Fine Molds! The Zero Fighter was developed as a 'carrier-based fighter' for the Japanese Navy to be operated from aircraft carriers. It demonstrated unparalleled strength from its introduction during the Second Sino-Japanese War until the early years of World War II, leading to what was later known as the 'Zero Fighter Myth.'

After the first mass-production model, the Type 11, successive improvements were made, with the Type 52 being roughly the fifth version. The Type 52 is characterized by its rounded wingtips, which were reshaped from the shortened wings of the Type 32 to improve speed. The Type 52 produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is further classified into early, mid, and late production models. This model represents the Mitsubishi-made mid-production model, just after the switch to thrust-type single exhaust pipes, but before the heat-resistant plates were attached to the fuselage where the exhaust pipes are located.

In this aircraft plastic model, the traditional method of splitting and assembling the fuselage into left and right sections has been replaced with a new approach. The fuselage is divided into larger front and rear sections, mimicking the actual aircraft's structure, with the rear fuselage being a single piece molded using a slide mold. Additionally, the canopy has been divided into separate parts for the glass and window frames, among other unique part divisions and assembly methods. This model has been developed with the aim of enhancing the joy of building, making it a new type of Zero Fighter plastic model suitable for the Reiwa era (*Note for those overseas Reiwa era began 2019).
