The light carrier Ryuho was based on the Daegu, which was built as a submarine carrier. There were problems with the performance of her diesel engine after it was completed, so she underwent extensive remodelling as an aircraft carrier, and was renamed Ryuho. This waterline model is molded in green, to assist in painting its distinctive camouflage pattern.
