Rd# 53002
This 40’ standard box car with single door, full ladders and no roofwalk is red with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1945 for Alton Railroad, this car was later obtained by Gulf, Mobile & Ohio railroad and rebuilt. With a 3,899 cu.ft. capacity, it belonged in a 100-car series. Gulf, Mobile & Ohio was a Class 1 railroad between the gulf coast and the Midwest from 1917 until 1972.
