Plastic model kit, assembly required. Glue, paint and finishing supplies not included.

Chiyoda, like her sister ship Chitose, was initially completed in 1938 as a seaplane carrier, with later conversion to an aircraft carrier in mind.

Afterwards, only Chiyoda underwent conversion to a deck-target carrier, and with the loss of four aircraft carriers at once in the Battle of Midway in 1942, it was finally decided to convert both ships to aircraft carriers, and in December the following year they were completed as light aircraft carriers with a capacity of 30 aircraft.

After the carrier conversion, she was engaged in fleet escort, and after participating in the Battle of Mariana in June the following year, she was bombarded by the US cruiser force in the Battle of Leyte in October, and sank in an empty battle using high-angle guns.
