Platz 1/144 Japanese Type 1 Fighter Ki-43-I Hayabusa Oscar (2 Kits) PDR-31

2 Plastic model kits, assembly required. Glue, paint and finishing supplies not included.

The Ki-43 Hayabusa Fighter served as the Japanese Army's main fighter during World War II. Development began in 1937, prior to World War II, with the prototype completed in 1938. While it did not meet the Army's requirements, the addition of drop tanks gave it a range of over 2,000 km. In April 1941, the test aircraft, the Ki-43, was officially adopted as the Ki-1 Fighter. The first type, equipped with a Ha-25 engine, was called the Type I and featured two 7.7mm machine guns. Later, the armament was upgraded to one 7.7mm machine gun and one 12.7mm cannon. Furthermore, the Type II had its engine replaced with a Ha-115, and the propeller changed from a two-bladed to a three-bladed one. The final production model, the Type III, saw its engine replaced with a Ha-115-II equipped with a water-ethanol injection system, further improving its performance.

Serving as the Army's main fighter from the start of World War II, the Hayabusa continued to fight bravely against many Allied pilots thanks to its exceptional maneuverability and the skill of its pilots.

About the Model

This 1/144 scale model recreates the Hayabusa, the Imperial Japanese Army's main fighter of World War II. This particular model is a replica of the early Hayabusa Type I.
The aircraft's shape, including the panel lines, is realistically rendered. The 61mm overall length allows the Hayabusa's highly maneuverable flight posture to be clearly seen. The drop tanks under the wings are also faithfully reproduced.

Four types of markings are included, including those for the 64th Air Squadron and the Akeno Army Flying School. All aircraft feature unpainted natural metal markings. Decals are provided for the anti-glare paint on the nose, the gray-green painted control surfaces, and the canopy frame, so after painting the parts silver, you can easily apply the decals to create the perfect finish.
The parts are manufactured by Platz and include parts for two aircraft. The limited number of parts makes assembly easy, and the finished product fits in the palm of your hand. This is a kit that will be fun to build.
